Harmonizing Technology & Nature

Cambrya is formed around shared values of curiosity, discovery, and stewardship.

We believe that technological advancement can foster a more harmonious future and that our new form of computing will be an essential building block in making that potential a reality.

We seek collaborators who are looking beyond the limitations of current tools and technology and want to take part in shaping the next generation. If that's you, reach out.

Patrick Abbs

Patrick Abbs became transfixed by the idea of figuring out how to algorithmically simulate natural learning behaviors in 2010. Over the next decade he pursued a career in machine learning, while in his free time developing a novel theoretical approach to learning that abandoned the statistical foundations of ML in favor of a new form of computation oriented around the philosophical concept of emergence. In 2020 Patrick co-founded Cambrya with partners Sarah and Erika to bring this new approach to computation and learning to fruition, and to responsibly and ethically begin to realize its potential.

Erika Schmitt

Erika is a proven leader, bringing over a decade of experience in client services, software as a service delivery, and organizational management. Erika is passionate about identifying, designing and implementing sustainable solutions to complex problems and supports internal and external clients and partners with creativity and rigor.

Sarah Zapiler

Sarah believes in the power of integrating wisdom across disciplines, sectors, and experiences to transform society. She brings her experience in organizational leadership, business operations, community organizing, and communication design to support Cambrya and our partners to strategically leverage and share the genius in our communities.

Nick Abbs

Nick is a full-stack software developer with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UT Austin. After graduating, he honed his development skills at a large Fortune-500 company and a small start-up before joining Cambrya. He is passionate about technology with a particular interest in evolutionary algorithms and the use of cloud architecture to achieve unsupervised optimizations.

Sanchit Gupta

Sanchit is pursuing a PhD in neuroscience and has extensive expertise in artificial intelligence, operating at the intersection of these two emerging disciplines. He believes that solutions to the most perplexing challenges in today's artificial intelligence can be found in how the brain functions. Utilizing his knowledge of neuroscience, he derives insights that can enhance the functionality of artificial algorithms. In his free time, he studies Vedanta and reflects on the fundamental questions of life.
